Should you spend money on your blankets for a move?
If you are like most of us, this current economy has you trying to save money anywhere you can. It can be a bad time to have to pay for moving expenses, so if you find yourself in that boat, you might not want to spend money on blankets. Fortunately there are alternatives.
Most people have old or extra blankets around there house that they use for guests, family or other occasions. The good news is that if you have blankets like this, depending on the size and material you might have just found a quick way to save money on your next move.
Professional grade moving blankets are not cheap. Even if you rent them you can find yourself paying a decent amount of money. The good news is that you can just use blankets around your house to replace them.
If you do find yourself ready to use blankets from your house, you should plan on them getting dirty, cut or even ruined if you aren't careful, so you won't want to use blankets you currently use unless you are prepared for that.
If you plan on using the blankets soon after you are done moving you will want to plan on a little extra time to get them cleaned or repaired if something happens to them on the move over.
If you are moving fragile items like mirrors, antiques or pictures you might want to go with real moving blankets or just use two or three to overcompensate.
In the end it really depends on your exact moving situations but there are a lot of times where simply using your own blankets instead will save you time money and energy.
